Marcos Polanco
Director of Information and Communication Technologies at PRIDCO

Mr. Polanco enjoys a wealth of technology, management and entrepreneurial experience. He started his career as part of the team performing database research at Hewlett-Packard Laboratories on the technology that eventually became Oracle's TimesTen in-memory database.

Following that, he led the development of the NeXTSTEP client to HP OpenMail, the architecture of a workflow system for cultural institutions and the financials component of the claims processing system for a California workman's compensation firm. In 1995 he co-founded Imana, Inc. and helped raise over $2M to commercialize a collaborative classification technology that he co-invented and patented. He went on to envision the SNAP software development center and form the team that raised $800K to establish it. He has played advisory roles within Puerto Rico's Department of Economic Development and Commerce on the establishment of the Island's Science, Technology and Research Trust and in the implementation of its Communications and Information Technology Roadmap.
